Join award-winning fabric artist Nancy Morgan for a fabric art talk and demonstration. Nancy will bring her sewing machine, fabric and thread to demonstrate and explain the basic techniques of creating her Fabric Art pieces. Examples of her work will be available for viewing and there will also be plenty of time for questions and answers.
Nancy’s intimate acquaintance with fabric comes from the years that she has been sewing. Her very early love of dancing, which continued through adulthood when she studied dance at Adelphi University, resulted in many hours spent at the sewing machine to fashion costumes. Perhaps because she knows fabrics so well, she is able to exact a certain amount of cooperation from the material, and together the artist and the medium join forces to create an altogether pleasing whole. And perhaps it is because this artist has lived her entire life on the seacoast, that the familiar scenes of a downtown square or the water’s edge in any one of a number of small Seacoast towns are so lovingly captured in her handiwork.
Nancy is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, the Seacoast Artist Association, and the Cambridge Art Association. Her work appears in many private collections throughout the U.S., and she has won several awards in both the fabric and art worlds.
The demonstration is sponsored by the Seacoast Artist Association and will take place on Sunday, October 9, at the old Exeter Town Hall, 9 Front Street, Exeter, NH, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. This event is free and open to the public.
