Class: Colored Pencil for Beginners and Intermediate Students

This class is for those of you would like to learn to use colored pencils to create beautiful artwork. You will be exploring various techniques in colored pencil and will learn: shading and highlights to create volume; building layers of color; burnishing for deep rich color. You will work to enhance your own personal technique and style, learn the five basic techniques that form the basis of colored pencil work and explore new papers and surfaces to use for your work. This great medium allows you to stop and start easily, without any set-up time, and to draw on location without worrying about solvents.

What to bring: Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils (minimum 36 pencil set), battery operated pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser, hard white eraser, 2B pencil, colorless blender pencil or marker. Drawing papers made specifically for colored pencil such as: Canson Mi-Teintes, Stonehenge, Strathmore. Check them out online at www.dickblick.com for the best prices. Other great surfaces for colored pencil are hot pressed watercolor paper, vellum bristol board and matte board.

Class starts: Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 and runs 8 weeks, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Cost is $160.00.

Class will be taught by Revelle Taillon, a hanging member of the Seacoast Artist Association. She holds a BFA in graphic design and illustration from ULowell and has won regional and national awards.
