“Local Colors” is the theme for this show of primarily watercolor paintings by Mary Jane Solomon being held at the Seacoast Artist Association Gallery, 130 Water St., Exeter From December 2nd through January 28th. Artist’s Reception will be held Friday December 2nd from 4-7. Refreshments will be served.
Being New England born and bred, Solomon finds the variety of colors offered by all four seasons an ongoing inspiration. Perhaps it is the brilliant splendor of autumn we are currently experiencing with its fiery reds, oranges and yellows, every shade of lingering green, the brilliant blue of the clear sky, through to the purple of shadows and distant hills. Or maybe a subtle, unexpected splash of color that catches her eye on a seemingly monochromatic winter day. These and the full range of color displayed throughout the year are what brings an emotional response and speaks of the New England experience. These are experiences worthy of a thank you note in the form of a painting.
Solomon earned a BFA at the University of NH and has studied graphics and illustration. She is a juried member of the NH Art Association and active member of the Seacoast Artist Association, showing work there regularly and managing the gallery.
