Lennie Mullaney is both an artist and a teacher. She recently retired from full time
teaching to become a full-time painter. She maintains a studio in The Button Factory in
Portsmouth. However, much of her work is done “en plein aire” in urban and rural locations.
She is an observational artist who responds to the environment around her.
“Painterly” in her style, she strives to simplify that which is observed to shape, color and
Lennie is a recent graduate from the UNH with a Masters in Fine Arts in Painting. She
also hold a Masters of Science in Art Education, CCSU, Sixth Year in Education, SCSU,
and B. A., UCONN. She has twice studied painting abroad in Italy and, most recently,
attended a class at Penland Art and Craft Art School in NC. She has exhibited her
painting in numerous juried, solo and group shows throughout New England and in Italy.
Her work is in private and public collections. Her paintings can be seen at the Robert
Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth and at www.lenniemullaney.com.
Lennie taught middle school in CT, and elementary and high school in Maine. She continues
to work with young people in NH and looks for opportunities to integrate art in
schools and community. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and Seacoast Artist Association.
