Note from the artist: I created this painting of York, Maine veteran fiddler, singer and songwriter Joyce Andersen from a photo I took of her at a house concert the summer of 2015. I was trying out the style of abstract painter Elaine de Kooning which I hoped would capture the power and energy of Joyce’s performance.
