Noel Soucy has developed her own voice and style through years of playing with different techniques and mediums. She works with acrylics and inks sometimes mixing them together. Her contemporary landscape and abstract pieces are inspired by the nature around her. She takes inspiration from her hikes in Maine, capturing the wetlands, seascapes, forests, and meadows. Her explorations outside largely mirror her explorations in the studio as she captures the beauty of Maine’s landscapes. For Soucy, each painting starts with a feeling or memory she wants to express. Image evolves freely as she layers color and texture, rubbing back and building up, scratching into the surface and working with palette knives and brushes until the character of the scene emerges. Noel is an exhibiting member in the Seacoast Artist Association, Loading Dock Gallery and Newburyport Art Association.
