Shawne is an award-winning painter living in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and an Exhibiting Member of the SAA. She works primarily in acrylics; she loves their immediacy, their fast drying time and layering capabilities, and that they require no noxious solvents or mediums. Her subject matter ranges from the simple still life of home and domesticity, to landscapes and seascapes depicting her beloved native New England, where her family has lived since 1632. She also paints supernaturalist subject matter that illuminates holy concepts and spiritual realities in the unseen realm. She would refer to these as modern iconography, and she sells these as prints on INPRNT.com.
Her secondary medium is soft pastel, which she often uses in plein air settings, capturing florals and landscapes. Shawne is also a published poet, and a member of Percheron Poets in Concord, NH, and participates in their annual public poetry event.
Shawne uses both her writing and her artistic skills as a marketing content specialist for her day job, creating graphic design for social media and promotional collateral, and writes marketing content for her company. By keeping a paintbox and canvases at work and painting every work day on her lunch hour, she is able to be a near-daily painter, an invaluable practice for sharpening her skills and producing a sizable body of work. She has spoken on the topic of daily painting at various artist guilds and meetings in New Hampshire. Her work lives in the homes of collectors across the U.S. and in a few countries around the world.
