This Love of Ours
“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.”
John Muir
I am so grateful to share my art with you! Especially the love I have for the life that lives on this gorgeous planet of ours. The wildflowers along our highways, the chickadees at the window feeder, the delicate yet sturdy branches of the backyard apple trees, bees pollinating countless perennials that persist regardless of the 3-feet of snow cover every year. Or perhaps because of the 3-foot snow cover.
I arrived late in life to the wonder of creating my art. With the mentoring of my two artist sisters and other wonderful teachers I’ve become an artist. It is the most joyful exploration of my life. The thrill of making something from nothing but a vague dream is an indescribable gift. When we paint we see the world through fresh eyes. We see that indeed we are all connected through endlessly magical links to this universe.
All living creatures share the same air, ground, and seas on this precious planet. The only planetary space we have. It is ours to take care of and protect from further damage, to nurture with full attention all living things.
The tufted titmouse in the spruce tree, the moles burrowing under the herb garden, the owls in the oak trees calling to us at night, will all thank us.
Even if they don’t know that it’s us. We’ll know.

I am constantly inspired by the wonders of nature and the joy of childhood moments of discovery. I like to pay close attention to the innate beauty of the world and find the extraordinary in the ordinary. Painting gives me that quietude to express and bring to the canvas my individual interpretation of nature and childhood wonderment.
An artist all my life, I have used my artistic talent in all of my career choices. Graduating from Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in Art Education and Painting, I began my journey as a public school Art Teacher.
Growing up in Marblehead, MA, a quaint harbor town North of Boston, the love of ocean and seaside life was inspirational for my interests in painting. The coves, marshes of the East Coast are some of my favorite go to places when I feel the need to create. I tend to find beauty in what nature so generously shares.
My company of Faux Finishing and Mural Painting exposed a need to provide Color Consultations for individuals struggling to find the perfect palette for their residences. In turn I took those skills to developed my current business of 20+ years, Phyllis Tracy Interiors.
My original oil paintings and prints are featured at Marblehead Frame and Art in Marblehead, MA., in addition to local shows at Marblehead Arts Assoc. and Mount Washington Valley Arts Assoc. I am a juried member of Oil Painters of America and American Women Artist. See more at https://www.phyllistracyfineart.com
