Chris is an avid wildlife photographer who has lived in Exeter, New Hampshire for more than 25 years. His two sons, Sava (b. 2004) and Dacha (b. 2002), are violinists who frequently perform at show openings. His wife and best friend, Simonida, is a pianist and analytical chemist. Together, the Thurber family has travelled to five continents, either for Chris’s work as a psychologist and consultant or for the boys’ music performances. Everywhere they go, Chris brings his camera to capture local flora and fauna, a practice that his family appreciates…most of the time.
Chris also enjoys woodworking and is proud to have supplied handmade conductor batons to some of the world’s best symphony conductors. For each of his gallery prints and custom commissions, Chris crafts one-of-a-kind frames using sustainable hardwood, cast acrylic, 24k gold leaf, and aluminum. He summarizes his artistic vision like this: “A friend once told me that great photographs tell stories and evoke emotions. Another friend told me we look at pictures once and move on, but photographs compel us to look again and again. I say, Why limit that allure to the image? I want the frame to do the same.”
