Pamela Grotenhuis Gallery

Pamela, originally from the Cape, has called New Hampshire home for over two decades. Her artistic journey began with photography in her youth, leading her to embrace Encaustic art later on, seamlessly merging it with her photographic images.  With a BFA in Design from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Pamela delved into different art forms during her academic years. Even after graduation, her fondness for photography persisted, complementing her role as a Lighting Designer. Intrigued by beekeeping, Pamela unearthed a profound connection with the organic nature of encaustic art. Through the diversity of her work, she mirrors her wide-ranging passions, often centering on themes of nature and human influence.

“What inspires us artistically?  Maybe it is the way the light hits a surface, or possibly a memory it brings when viewing a scene; a touch of emotion with the surroundings that makes one document the moment.  For me, it is how the environment and those that live within create a symbiotic relationship.  An intimate connection, the energy that is shared between them that catches my attention and I capture it on film. It is through this and the encaustic process that I unveil my interpretation of that inspiration.”
