28th Annual Scholarship Awards

The Seacoast Artist Association celebrated it’s 28th year awarding students scholarships to financially assist those talented student artists who are planning to continue their education in the area of the visual arts.

This year, there were 18 submissions from local high schools and these were judged by Bill Childs, Barbara Cowan and Pat Corbin. Judging was difficult and close and six students tied for three top awards.

Shelby Bernard from Exeter High School and Drucilla Sargent from Winnacunnet High School tied for first both winning $1000.00. Amie Knowles from Winnicunnet and Ashley Platt from Exeter tied for second both winning $750.00. Brooklyn Comfort from Spaulding High School and Olivia Heffernan from Timberlane Regional High School tied for third both winning $500.00.

The Scholarship Committee consists of several very devoted volunteers who work throughout the year raising money and  supporting the program. They are Darlene Zahn, Gwen Morgan, Doris Rice, Gerry Bresnahan, Pat Boyd Robertson, Rosan Soffron and Revelle Taillon is the graphic designer for posters and brochures.

The search for talented high school seniors will begin again in August, 2016. Looking forward to some wonderful art.
