My inspirations come from the world around me, a walk in the woods, the flowers in my garden, the fruits in the kitchen or wherever I am at the moment. I love to walk, either at home in the woods around my house or slowly through the garden. I will come back to the studio full of ideas. There is so much to see.
I usually work in the monotype medium.
A Monotype is one of a kind, hand pulled print, an original, not a reproduction. The image is created with etching ink on a smooth Plexiglas plate; I used Charbonnel Aqua wash, and transfer the image on paper with a printmaking press. By doing so I am able to create texture not possible when painting directly on paper. Monotypes are a very experimental form of art work as I never know for sure what the final result will be until the monotype is pulled from the press. For me, making monotypes lets me explore and experiment, I can try almost anything and I love the freedom it gives me. It is fun!
