New Dimensions Introduced to SAA Gallery
New Dimensions Introduced to the SAA Gallery!
Though our lovely Gallery Shop offers a wide variety of items in many mediums, we are quite thrilled to also now be showcasing some 3 Dimensional pieces created by two of our newest members. Here are brief bios to entice you to come see for yourself, if you haven’t already…
Donald Briere of Brentwood is a master of the craft of wood turning. Through this time intensive technique, Don creates heirloom quality vases, bowls, salt and pepper shakers, wine glasses and more and has been awarded “Best in Show” at the nationally renowned Sunapee Craftsmen’s’ Fair. Though mainly composed of various woods, he also incorporates semi-precious stones adding a touch of color to some of his pieces. He welcomes visits and enjoys designing custom pieces.
Colin Ware has been making art of one kind or another his whole life. In his day job he designs computer graphics to display scientific data – it’s like painting data with colored light. One of his pieces is a computer animation of ocean currents displayed on a 6 ft. sphere in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. He has also written two widely referenced books on perception and graphic design. A group of sculptures containing illusory contours was exhibited at the University of Toronto. Colin lives in Durham, paints in oils, and sculpts with a variety of materials. Recently, he has been making chickens, using chicken wire.
